Entrepreneurs need to be able to think outside of the box, while managers need to be able to execute on ideas in a timely and cost effective way.
Entrepreneurs are more likely than managers to fail at first or even multiple times, but they also have higher potential returns when they succeed.
Competing Against Yourself First And Foremost
You have to be your own toughest critic, and if you can’t look at yourself in the mirror and know that you are doing your best, then there’s no way anyone else will believe in you either.
This can be hard when things get tough or when things don’t go as planned but if there’s anything I’ve learned from years of entrepreneurship, it’s this: if it doesn’t work out with one idea, move on. Don’t beat yourself up over it; just keep moving forward until something does work out for real this time around and trust me it will.
Work Harder Than Anyone Else
The best way to succeed according to Walter Morales is by working harder than anyone else around you and that’s not to say that there aren’t other things that are important like having an idea, or knowing how to market it but those things will only take you so far if they aren’t backed up by hard work.
Hard work will give you an edge over other people who think they can coast on talent alone. It doesn’t matter how talented or intelligent or creative someone is: if they don’t put in the effort required of them, they won’t get anywhere at all.
Hard work isn’t just something that helps make up for lackluster ideas or poor marketing; it’s also what makes those things possible in the first place!
And as much as we might like to believe otherwise, our lives aren’t about awards ceremonies where we walk away with trophies just because we showed up unless maybe we’re talking about sports but even then.
